NYSE Announces Third-Quarter 2000 Financial Results

The New York Stock Exchange reported revenues of $606.6 million and net income of $73.1 million in the first nine months of 2000, as compared with $551.2 million and $76.0 million in the same period a year ago.

For third-quarter 2000, revenues totaled $211.7 million and net income was $25.9 million, compared with $180.3 million and $17.6 million, respectively, in third-quarter 1999.

Average daily trading volume for the first nine months of 2000 was 1.01 billion shares worth $43.7 billion, compared with 782.0 million shares worth $35.1 billion in the comparable period of 1999. In the first nine months of 2000, 84 companies joined the list of NYSE-listed stocks, compared with 106 in the year-ago period.
