NYSE Announces First-Quarter 2001 Financial Results

The New York Stock Exchange reported revenues of $212.9 million in first-quarter 2001, compared with $189.0 million in first-quarter 2000, and net income of $21.8 million, compared with $22.9 million in the year-ago quarter.

Pre-tax income for first-quarter 2001 was reported at $36.0 million, compared with $38.7 million during the same period in 2000.

Average daily trading volume for first-quarter 2001 was 1.2 billion shares, compared with 1.1 billion shares in the comparable period of 2000. In first-quarter 2001, 15 companies joined the list of NYSE-listed stocks, compared with 18 in the year-ago period.
