NYSE Announces First-Half 2001 Financial Results

The New York Stock Exchange reported revenues of $444.7 million and net income of $41.7 million in the first six months of 2001, as compared with $394.9 million in revenue and $47.3 million in net income during the same period a year ago.

For second-quarter 2001, revenues totaled $231.8 million and net income was $19.9 million, compared with $205.9 million and $24.4 million, respectively, in second-quarter 2000.

Average daily trading volume for the first six months of 2001 was 1.22 billion shares worth $45.0 billion, compared with 1.03 billion shares worth $45.4 billion in the comparable period of 2000. In the first half of 2001, 64 companies joined the list of NYSE-listed stocks, compared with 46 in the year-ago period.
