NYSE Alerts Investors To E-Mail Hoax

The New York Stock Exchange said today that an unknown individual promoting investment opportunities in the oil industry has been fraudulently using the NYSE's Internet address, nyse.com, as the return address for his or her e-mail messages. The NYSE has no relationship with this individual or his or her activities. The Exchange warns recipients of the e-mail messages not to be confused by the false implication of a connection to the NYSE. The Exchange has contacted the FBI and SEC about this matter. The NYSE emphasizes that its Web site, nyse.com, has not been compromised.
