NYMEX To Increases Position Limits On Crude And Natural Gas Futures And Options Contracts

The New York Mercantile Exchange has received approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to increase the speculative position limits on its light, sweet crude oil and Henry Hub natural gas futures and option contracts as of December 1. The total (all-month) position a non-commercial entity may hold in the light, sweet crude oil market will be increased to 20,000 contracts from 15,000 contracts and the single month position limit will be increased to 10,000 contracts from 7,500 contracts. The all-month speculative position limit in natural gas will increase in 12,000 contracts from 10,000 contracts with the one-month speculative position limit increasing to 7,000 contracts from 5,000 contracts. The spot-month speculative position limit, in place for the last three days of trading, will remain 1,000 contracts in both markets.
