Nymex To Decrease Margins On New York Independent System Operator Electricity Futures

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., said that it will decrease the margins on its three New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) electricity futures contracts at the close of business on Wednesday.

Margins on all months of the NYISO Zone A (western New York), and NYISO Zone G (Hudson Valley) electricity futures contracts will decrease to $2,500 from $3,750 for clearing members, to $2,750 from $4,125 for members, and to $3,375 from $5,063 for customers.

Margins on all months of the NYISO Zone J (New York City) electricity futures contract will decrease to $3,000 from $5,000 for clearing members, to $3,300 from $5,500 for members, and to $4,050 from $6,750 for customers.
