NYMEX Strategic Advisor Resigns

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., announced today that former NYMEX Chairman Vincent Viola resigned from his position of strategic advisor citing the successful conclusion of the private equity investment process. Mr. Viola served as chairman from 2001 to 2004 and vice chairman from 1993 to 1996.

Exchange Chairman Mitchell Steinhause said, "Vinnie's leadership during a time of unparalled competition and challenges, including September 11, Enron collapse, and the electricity crisis, was nothing short of heroic. With single–minded determination, helped us reach new levels of success."
