Nymex Sets Volume Records In Coal And e-miNY<SUP>sm</SUP> Crude Oil Futures

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., today announced monthly and daily volume records for Central Appalachian (CAPP) coal futures contracts and a monthly volume record for the e-miNY futures contracts for the month of July.

Coal futures monthly volume reached 3,510 contracts traded, exceeding the record set in June of 3,155 contracts. Coal futures also set a daily volume record on August 3, with 975 contracts traded, shattering the record 555 contracts traded on June 29.

A record 473,150 e-miNYsm futures contracts were traded in July, surpassing the previous record of 444,077 contracts set in June.

e-miNYsm crude oil futures contracts hit a record high of 447,550 contracts traded in July, exceeding the previous record volume of 411,244 contracts set in June.

Exchange President James E. Newsome said, "I am pleased with the continued expansion of our markets and the vitality of our contracts."
