Nymex Sets Record For Overnight Trading

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., today announced that a record 70,630 contracts were traded on the NYMEX ACCESS® electronic trading platform last night, surpassing the previous record of 60,790 contracts set during an abbreviated two-hour special daytime session held on September 14, 2001, the first time the markets opened after the September 11 World Trade Center attack.

Exchange President James E. Newsome said, "The recent volume record on NYMEX ACCESS® demonstrates the importance market participants place on the ability to trade and manage their price risk after open-outcry trading hours."
