Nymex Sets Natural Gas Open Interest Record

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., announced that the natural gas futures contract set an open interest record yesterday of 584,428 contracts, exceeding the previous record of 581,337 contracts set on May 13, 2002.

Exchange President James E. Newsome said, "We are very pleased with this new record as open interest is one of the clearest indicators of our deep liquidity and our market participant"s commitment to our market."
