NYMEX Sets Monthly Copper Volume Record in April

A monthly volume record for COMEX Division copper futures was established in April with 296,162 contracts traded by month's end, surpassing the previous monthly volume record of 291,393 contracts traded in June 1994. Exchange President R. Patrick Thompson said, 'This record is not only evidence of the continued use of our copper futures contract as a tool for global price discovery and risk management but bodes well for the introduction of our aluminum futures contract next week. Year-to-date, copper futures volume is up 14%.'
