In addition, light, sweet crude oil futures volume set an annual record with 38,167,197 contracts through the end of October, breaking the previous record of 37,860,064 contracts set in 1999.
NYMEX Division futures volume totalled 8,701,270 contracts, surpassing the previous record of 8,614,654 contracts set in April 2002.
Energy futures volume of 8,687,726 contracts broke the record 8,602,061 contracts also set in April 2002.
Light, sweet crude oil futures volume for October totalled 4,397,015 contracts, exceeding the monthly record of 4,315,328 contracts traded during April 2002.
Unleaded gasoline futures volume was 1,105,004 contracts during October, breaking the previous record of 1,056,488 contracts set in May 2001.
e-miNY crude oil futures trading of 52,848 contracts during October topped the previous mark of 38,821 contracts set in July 2002.
Unleaded gasoline futures volume traded on the NYMEX ACCESS® electronic trading system during October totaled 26,754 contracts, surpassing the record 23,033 contracts set in March 2002.
