Nymex Sets Daily Volume Records For Second Consecutive Day

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., set daily volume records yesterday for Exchange–wide, NYMEX Division futures and options, and light, sweet crude oil futures contracts.

Overall volume reached 1,201,461 contracts, breaking the previous record of 1,048,362 contracts traded on August 10. NYMEX Division futures and options hit a record 1,017,302 contracts, surpassing the 975,333 contracts traded on August 10. Light, sweet crude oil futures reached 383,589 contracts, exceeding the previous record of 373,048 contracts traded on April 13.

Exchange President James E. Newsome said, "We are delighted to have a second consecutive day of record volumes on the Exchange. It is gratifying to know that we are providing the marketplace with the risk management tools they need."
