The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., a subsidiary of NYMEX Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: NMX), announced today that it set daily volume records for its silver and platinum futures contracts on the CME Globex electronic trading platform yesterday.
Silver futures reached 72,283 contracts, surpassing the 58,382 contracts traded on April 27.
Platinum futures traded 6,316 contracts, exceeding the 5,159 contracts traded on June 25.
NYMEX launched its physically settled futures contracts for trading on CME Globex during regular open outcry trading hours on September 5, 2006, following its initial offering of financially settled, standard-sized and NYMEX miNY™ energy futures contracts for trading on CME Globex on June 12. On December 4, NYMEX introduced full-sized and COMEX miNY™ metals futures contracts for side-by-side trading.
