Nymex Sets Daily Record In Crude Oil Options Trading

Crude oil options set a daily volume record on the New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., yesterday, with 129,783 contracts traded, surpassing the previous record of 119,258 contracts set on January 14 of this year. Exchange President J. Robert Collins, Jr., said, "As the Exchange has witnessed a flight to quality over the past five months, what has been particularly impressive and note-worthy has been the increase in options trading activity, a clear indication of an increase in sophisticated market participants seeking to avoid counterparty credit risk."
