Nymex Promotes Internal Auditor To Vice President

The board of directors of the New York Mercantile Exchange recently promoted Michael Lugo to vice president of internal audit.
Mr. Lugo has been with the Exchange since March 1997 as director of internal audit within the office of the president. His responsibilities include conducting independent reviews and evaluations of management operations and activities to assess financial reliability and integrity. He also ensures compliance with policies, plans, standards, laws, and regulations. He takes measures to safeguard assets which include tests of existence and ownership. He oversees and participates in the external audit.
Before joining the Exchange, he worked for four-and-a-half years as the manager of internal auditing for Twin Laboratories, a manufacturer of vitamins and nutritional supplements. Prior to that, he was in public accounting for five years.
Mr. Lugo holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Pace University and is a certified public accountant and certified fraud examiner. He is also a member of various organizations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the Information System Audit and Control Association.
