NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Set Electronic Trading Volume Record

Henry Hub natural gas set a record on Wednesday night on the New York Mercantile Exchange ACCESS(SM) electronic trading system when 16,337 contracts were traded, surpassing the previous record of 16,038 contracts, traded during the July 29, 1999, session. Exchange President R. Patrick Thompson said, "This record set less than a month after the previous record is an indication of the strength and vitality of our Henry Hub natural gas contract. Natural gas trading on the system is up 21% over last year and it continues to be the second most actively traded contract on NYMEX ACCESS(SM)."
