Mr. Neumann has served as a software engineer and systems architect since he joined the Exchange in 1998. During his tenure at the Exchange, he has been the administrator of e-RAV, a centralized risk management system enabling portfolio risk management across all Exchange venues, and he created its risk algorithms. He also created the implied matching engine, for the NYMEX ACCESS® trading system, which integrates the futures and spread markets so outright futures orders can be executed against spread orders and vice versa.
Prior to joining the Exchange, Mr. Neumann was the sole propietor of Codeland, Inc. He also worked as a software engineer at the University of Vienna in Austria, first at its Theoretical Chemistry Institute and then at its Astronomy Academy. He was also a software engineer at the Santa Fe Institute in New Mexico.
Mr. Neumann holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle, and he graduated magna cum laude with a masters in computer science from the University of Philadelphia. He lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with his wife, Maia, and they are expecting their first child in June.
