Nymex Names New Vice President Of Strategy And Business Development

The Exchange has promoted John J. D'Agostino to vice president of strategy and business development, in the process creating a new department to focus on strategic options for Exchange expansion and growth.

Mr. D'Agostino joined the Exchange in 2003 as a manager for special projects in the office of the president. In that position, he worked on business expansion and strategic partnerships, exploring potential growth in Singapore, Dubai, China, London, among other places. Mr. D'Agostino also assisted in the development of hand–held technology for the Exchange trading floor and helped originate a joint project with Goldman, Sachs & Co., ICAP, and Longitude, Inc., that resulted in the development of a derivatives market for options on oil and natural gas inventory statistics.

Prior to the Exchange, Mr. D'Agostino worked for the international consulting firm Accenture in its change management practice, helping companies manage post–merger and integration issues.

He also worked with Mercer Management Consulting as a senior strategy consultant, crafting strategic plans for Fortune 100 financial services and technology firms, while helping them identify merger/acquisition and business development opportunities.

Mr. D'Agostino graduated from Williams College with a double major in English and politics. He studied politics, philosophy, and law at Oxford University before earning a masters degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.

Mr. D'Agostino lives in Manhattan and serves on the board of trustees for the Eden II Home for Autistic Children and is the finance chairman for the Harvard Business School Club of New York.
