NYMEX Names New Senior Vice President Of COMEX

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc. today announced that it has named William Purpura as senior vice president of COMEX.

Mr. Purpura joins the NYMEX staff after a long career in futures trading. He most recently served as president of Great Lakes Trading Group, a COMEX member firm, a position he held since 1997. He began trading metals on COMEX in 1978 and became a COMEX member in 1981. Mr. Purpura served on the COMEX board of governors for six years and worked closely with NYMEX to establish metals trading on the CME Globex® electronic trading platform last year. He has served on variety of exchange committees including the metals advisory, adjudication, floor, metals transition, and arbitration.

Previously, Mr. Purpura has held memberships at the Coffee, Sugar and Cocoa Exchange and MidAmerica Commodity Exchange. He has served as a director for the National Introducing Brokers Association and has been a National Futures Association member and registered introducing broker, commodity trading advisor, and floor broker. Mr. Purpura graduated from Yankton College with a bachelor of arts degree in economics and business administration.
