Mr. Hayes joins the NYMEX from NUON Energy Sourcing in Amsterdam, where he served as manager of power trading. He ran the power trading desk for core markets, including The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, and Central Europe. He managed a team of 28 people with responsibilities including trading, scheduling, monitoring and forecasting.
Prior to that, Mr. Hayes worked for Coastal Corp. in Houston, most recently as the East Coast power trading manager. He was responsible for trading PJM, Cinergy, Entergy, NEPOOL, and NYPP and associated basis. He also built Coastal's real-time trading desk, including the introduction of the company's real-time desk for Cinergy, PJM, Entergy, TVA, and MAPP.
Mr. Hayes earned a bachelor of arts degree in business management from the University of Houston.
