NYMEX May 2007 Volume Averaged 1.382 Million Contracts Per Day, Up 15% Over Year Ago Period

NYMEX Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:NMX), the parent company of the New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., announced today that average daily volume in May 2007 was 1.382 million contracts per day, a 15% increase from 1.202 million contracts per day in the same period of 2006.

NYMEX electronic volume on the CME Globex® electronic trading platform was 596,490 contracts per day and represented a 434% increase over 111,647 contracts in May 2006 electronic volume on NYMEX ACCESS®. NYMEX floor-traded energy futures and options averaged 242,261 contracts per day for May 2007.

COMEX electronic volume on CME Globex averaged 106,116 contracts per day and represented a 502% increase over 17,615 contracts in May 2006 NYMEX ACCESS electronic volume. COMEX floor-traded average daily volume was 45,581 contracts for May 2007.

Average daily volume on NYMEX ClearPort® for the rolling three months from March through May 2007 increased 28% to 314,481 contracts, from 245,804 contracts in the comparable period of 2006. The remaining volume of 88,729 trades per day consisted of other transactions which includes position transfers and exchanges.

April Rate Per Contract Gross average rate per contract across all venues in April 2007 was $1.53, while the net average rate per contract, including direct transaction costs, was $1.25. This is compared to gross average rate per contract of $1.45, and a net average rate per contract of $1.37 for April 2006. Direct transaction costs were $7.909 million for April 2007 vs. $1.693 million for April 2006.
