NYMEX Gold Futures Reach Record Annual Volume

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., announced that the gold futures contract set an annual volume record yesterday.

The gold futures volume totaled 14,997,853 contracts on December 8, surpassing the record 14,959,617 traded in 2004.

Exchange President James E. Newsome said, "Gold trading has climbed to historic levels. We are delighted to see the increased activity in gold markets as well as the other metals contracts."
