The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc. announced today that it set a daily volume record for gold futures contracts traded on the CME Globex electronic trading platform on January 5.
Gold futures reached 75,906 contracts, surpassing the 69,572 contracts traded on January 3.NYMEX launched its physically settled futures contracts for trading on CME Globex during regular open outcry trading hours on September 5, following its initial offering of financially settled, standard-sized and NYMEX miNY energy futures contracts for trading on CME Globex on June 12. On December 4, NYMEX introduced full-sized and COMEX miNY metals futures contracts for side by side trading.
