NYMEX Energy, Metals Futures Contracts Set Daily Volume Records On CME Globex®

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc. announced today that it set daily volume records for total futures, as well as crude oil, natural gas and COMEX miNYTM copper futures contracts traded on the CME Globex electronic trading platform yesterday.

Total energy and metals futures traded a record 704,301 contracts, exceeding the 698,718 contracts traded on January 4. Crude oil futures reached 436,151 contracts, surpassing the 417,771 contracts traded on January 4. Natural gas futures totaled 69,261 contracts, topping the 67,584 contracts traded on December 11, 2006. COMEX miNY copper futures contracts traded 22 contracts, exceeding the 17 contracts traded on December 4, 2006.

NYMEX launched its physically settled futures contracts for trading on CME Globex during regular open outcry trading hours on September 5, following its initial offering of financially settled, standard-sized and NYMEX miNY energy futures contracts for trading on CME Globex on June 12. On December 4, NYMEX introduced full-sized and COMEX miNY metals futures contracts for side by side trading.
