NYMEX April 2007 Volume Averaged 1.398 Million Contracts Per Day, Up 23% Over Year Ago Period - Significant Increases In Electronic Volumes Versus Same Period The Previous Year - NYMEX Electronic Trading Volume Increases 466% - COMEX Electronic Trading Vo

NYMEX Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:NMX), the parent company of the New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., announced today that average daily volume in April 2007 was 1.398 million contracts per day, a 23% increase from 1.138 million contracts per day in the same period of 2006.

NYMEX electronic volume on the CME Globex® electronic trading platform was 594,000 contracts per day and represented a 466% increase over the April 2006 electronic volume on NYMEX ACCESS®. NYMEX floor-traded energy futures and options averaged 273,000 contracts per day for April 2007.

COMEX electronic volume on CME Globex averaged 95,000 contracts per day and represented a 400% increase over the April 2006 NYMEX ACCESS electronic volume. COMEX floor-traded average daily volume was 42,000 contracts for April 2007.

Average daily volume on NYMEX ClearPort® increased 30% in April 2007 to 319,000 contracts, from 245,000 contracts in the comparable period of 2006. The remaining volume of 74,000 trades per day consisted of other transactions which includes position transfers and exchanges.

Note: The above figures are preliminary and may change slightly due to the fact that the last days of the month have not been finalized and are thus subject to adjustments and corrections. Average daily volume is based on 20 trading days for April 2007 and 19 days for April 2006.

March Rate Per Contract: Gross average rate per contract across all venues in March 2007 was $1.47, while the net average rate per contract, including direct transaction costs, was $1.22. This is compared to gross average rate per contract of $1.42, and a net average rate per contract of $1.33 for March 2006. Direct transaction costs were $7.561 million for March 2007 vs. $1.998 million for March 2006.
