Nymex Announces Staff Reorganization And Promotions

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., today announced the appointment of Thomas LaSala as senior vice president of compliance and risk management; Christopher K. Bowen as chief administrative officer; and Neal L. Wolkoff as chief operating officer.

Mr. LaSala has been the vice president of compliance at the Exchange since 1994 and began working for the Exchange in 1984. He has also held positions as a market surveillance analyst and director of market surveillance. A 1983 graduate of Marist College, with a bachelor of science in business administration - finance, he is also on the board of directors of the National Futures Association financial services division and is chairman of the Joint Compliance Committee of all of the U.S., futures exchanges.

Mr. LaSala will report to Mr. Wolkoff along with the areas of clearing, floor operations, facilities, and project development and management. Mr. Wolkoff has been executive vice president of the Exchange since 1993. He joined the Exchange in 1981 as compliance counsel, and has also held positions as associate general counsel, vice president of compliance, and senior vice president of regulatory affairs and operations. He has also worked as an attorney in private practice and as an honors program attorney for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission(CFTC). He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Columbia University and a juris doctor from Boston University. He is admitted to the Bar of the State of New York and the Southern District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Mr. Bowen has been the senior vice president and general counsel for the Exchange since 1997. In addition to continuing to oversee the Exchange's legal department, he will also supervise its human resources and membership departments. Mr. Bowen has also held positions as counsel and manager of futures compliance at Morgan Stanley and Co.; associate general counsel at the Exchange; attorney and advisor at the CFTC, Division of Trading and Markets; and judicial law clerk for Judge Joseph H. Kaplan in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Columbia University and a juris doctor from the University of Maryland.

Exchange President J. Robert Collins, Jr., said, "These appointments reflect the strength of our staff resources at the Exchange. Reinforcing the leadership roles of these individuals, along with the organizational restructuring will intensify our efforts as we move forward on our ambitious plans for expansion."
