NYBOT's World Sugar Breaks Two Records

The Sugar No. 11SM futures contract market at the New York Board of Trade® (NYBOT®) set an all-time daily trading record on January 26, 2005, with 143,548 contracts changing hands. The previous record was 136,492 contracts, established on March 26, 2004.

On the same day, the World Sugar market also set an open interest record of 411,726 Sugar No. 11 futures contracts, replacing the previous high of 369,790 contracts set on January 3, 2005.

NYBOT’s Sugar No. 11 futures contract is 112,000 lbs. of raw centrifugal cane sugar, and comes from 29 countries throughout the world, including Australia, Brazil, India, and the United States. World sugar futures and options represent NYBOT’s largest market in terms of total trading volume.
