NYBOT's Russell 1000 Futures Market Continues Growth -Open Interest Up 30%, Underlying Capital Value At $2.24 Billion

The New York Board of Trade® (NYBOT®) announced today that its Russell 1000® Index futures contract, which measures the performance of the 1,000 largest companies in the Russell 3000® Index, had a daily open interest increase of nearly 20%, pushing the underlying value of investment capital in the contract to a record $2.24 billion. The previous record was $2.23 billion, set on June 18, 2003.

As of January 27, 2004, the Exchange's Russell 1000 contract has also grown 30% in open interest Year-To-Date to 72,942 contracts (from 56,075 contracts).

NYBOT's Market Maker program, which continuously assures liquidity and price spread for all Russell Index future and option contracts, has attracted considerable institutional investment attention. The contract offers institutional investors a more precise index hedging tool to match fund/portfolio investment objectives.
