NYBOT’s Cotton Options Breaks Another Volume Record

Trading in the cotton options contract at the New York Board of Trade® (NYBOT®), the world’s leading “softs” commodities exchange, broke another all-time volume record of 40,292 contracts on October 15, 2003. The previous record was 34,082 contracts set on October 9, 2003.

As of close of business October 16, total cotton options Open Interest stood at 259,985 contracts, which also represents a new all-time record at NYBOT.

Open Interest for cotton futures broke a record at NYBOT, with a new mark of 111,981 contracts set on October 16, 2003.

NYBOT’s Cotton No. 2 futures contract is 50,000 pounds net weight of cotton and trades from 10:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. (NY Time). The exchange has established delivery points for its cotton in: Galveston, TX; Houston, TX; New Orleans, LA; Memphis, TN, and Greenville/ Spartanburg, S.C.
