NYBOT To Carry 2005 Citrus Crop Forecast Live Over Its Website October 12

Date 07/10/2005

The annual Citrus Crop Forecast from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agriculture Statistics Service (USDA/NASS) will be webcast “live” over the New York Board of Trade® (NYBOT®) website at 8:30 a.m. (EDT), Wednesday October 12, 2005. The crop forecast event, which is produced by the Southeast AgNet Radio Network, is the latest in the Exchange’s Live on the Web program.

The forecast will be hosted by Southeast AgNet President Gary Cooper. Ag Statistics Administrator Bob Terry of the USDA/NASS will announce the citrus crop forecast numbers immediately after release, and industry reaction will be from Roger Corrado, a Frozen Concentrated Orange Juice (FCOJ) trader on the NYBOT floor, Dan Gunter, Executive Director of the Florida Department of Citrus (FDOC), and Bob Terry, USDA/NASS.

“The annual Citrus Crop Forecast has always been important to our industry, but I believe this year’s report will be especially significant,” said Roger Corrado, FCOJ trader at NYBOT. “Numerous weather-related issues such as last year’s hurricanes, the spread of the citrus canker, and many other issues have been having an effect on the orange juice market. I would encourage anyone in the citrus industry and anyone in speculative trading to tune in to this event.”

The NYBOT FCOJ-A contract is for 1500 pounds of orange juice solids. The contract trades from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm (EST) and has a contract symbol of “OJ”.
