NYBOT Softs Set New Electronic Trading Record Of Nearly 95,000 Contracts - New Record For World Sugar Futures On ICE

Electronic soft commodity futures trading at the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT), a regulated subsidiary of IntercontinentalExchange (NYSE: ICE), reached a new high of 94,539 contracts on Thursday, February 15, a record share of more than 36% of overall daily futures volume in the listed products. Also on Thursday, NYBOT Sugar No. 11SM futures trading on ICE set a new electronic record of 64,230 contracts, or about 40% of total futures volume.

The electronic trading volume record yesterday surpasses the previous record of 86,115 contracts established on Tuesday, February 13. Following new records earlier in the week in cotton futures open interest and daily sugar futures volume, Cotton No. 2SM futures established a new daily volume record of 68,047 contracts traded Wednesday, February 14.

ICE, the leading electronic energy marketplace and its leading soft commodities exchange, NYBOT, introduced side-by-side trading for the NYBOT physical soft commodity contracts on Friday, February 2. Contracts offered include cocoa, coffee, cotton, orange juice and sugar.
