NYBOT Sets Second Exchange-Wide And Electronic Volume Records This Week - Electronically Traded Cotton Futures Also Achieve New High

IntercontinentalExchange (NYSE: ICE), the leading electronic energy marketplace and soft commodity exchange, announced that for the second time this week, its New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) subsidiary set exchange-wide and electronic volume records. NYBOT also established a new record in electronically traded Cotton No. 2SM futures.

On Wednesday, June 13, NYBOT exchange-wide volume reached a record 414,701 contracts, surpassing the previous high established on June 11 of 407,150 contracts. NYBOT also set a new daily electronic volume record with 232,371 contracts traded, exceeding the June 11 record of 220,372 contracts by 5.4%.

Also on June 13, NYBOT set a new daily electronic trading record in Cotton futures with 26,038 contracts, surpassing the record established on June 5 of 22,410 contracts.

ICE successfully introduced side-by-side trading for NYBOT's soft commodity contracts in February, including futures based on cocoa, coffee, cotton, orange juice and sugar. In May, electronic trading represented 71% of soft commodity futures volume. NYBOT will introduce electronic trading for the U.S. Dollar Index(R) (USDX) and the Russell 1000(R) full- and mini-sized indexes tomorrow.
