NYBOT® Contract Markets Continue To Set Open Interest And Volume Records

The New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) on September 15 reported additional ongoing open interest and volume records for several of its contract markets.

Futures open interest for the Russell 1000® Index rose to 8,387 on September 13 over the previous open interest record of 8,350 on September 12, which surpassed the prior open interest record of 7,358 set on April 28, 2000.

Futures open interest in the Euro/Australian dollar grew to 1,847 on September 14 over the prior open interest record of 1,555 set on September 8, 2000. Futures volume in the Euro/Australian dollar grew to 966 contracts traded on September 14 over the previous futures volume trading record of 747 contracts traded on September 3, 2000.

Futures open interest in the Euro/Japanese yen increased to 12,854 on September 13 over the prior futures open interest record of 12,075 established on September 11, 2000 which surpassed the earlier reported futures open interest record of 11,671 set on April 20, 1999.

Records in cocoa futures open interest were set four times over the past week with an open interest record of 123,072 set on September 14, over the record of 123,002 set on September 13 which surpassed the record of 122,925 set on September 11 that broke the prior record of 122,826 set on September 8, 2000.
