August 2005 trading volumes also increased in several other categories when compared to the same month in 2004: NYBOT’s agricultural futures contracts rose 32%; agricultural options were up 21%; currency futures jumped 61%; currency options rose 16%; the index futures rose 59%, and the options were up 6%.
NYBOT’s year-to-date (YTD) combined futures and options trading volumes climbed 14% to 24,468,405 contracts. The Exchange’s futures and options markets individually saw impressive growth, with futures rising 16%, and options gaining 8%. Additionally, commodity futures contract volume at NYBOT saw a 15% increase, and commodity options rose 7%. NYBOT’s financial marketplace also saw gains in business, with currency futures up 31% and index options rising 34%.
