NYBOT Announces New Orleans Coffee Warehouse Actions

Date 21/10/2005

The New York Board of Trade® (NYBOT®) determined, after due inquiry, not to suspend or take other action to limit or condition the licenses previously granted to S. Jackson & Son, Inc. and Port Cargo Service, LLC, respectively, to store coffee in the Port of New Orleans. The decision was made on the basis of an inspection conducted by an independent examiner retained by NYBOT which confirmed the completion of repairs to the stores that had sustained structural damage in hurricane Katrina.

Accordingly, the affected warehouse stores noted below remain duly licensed to store coffee in accordance with NYBOT rules:

S. Jackson & Son, Inc. Store 7
Port Cargo Service, LLC Stores 4, 4C and 6

The NYBOT determination does not have any effect on the actions taken by NYBOT with respect to coffee in the Port of New Orleans. Specifically, the certification of coffee in the Port remains prohibited, no delivery notices may be issued for coffee to be delivered in the Port and no warehouse operator licensed by the Exchange may accept for storage in a store licensed by the Exchange any coffee that, since August 27, 2005, had been held in a warehouse located in the Port, unless such coffee has passed such tests and met such standards as the Exchange specifies.
