NYBOT Announces Contingency Plans In Case Of New York City Transit Strike

Date 12/12/2002

In order to ensure the orderly continuity of its markets and the marketplace as a whole, the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT®) announced today its Contingency Plans in the event of a transit strike in New York City:

--NYBOT markets will remain open and operating on a normal business schedule during any strike, should one occur, and for the duration of any such strike.

--NYBOT has developed a Contingency Plan which provides for shuttle bus service to and from various points throughout New York City and its Long Island City, Queens, location. NYBOT's plan complements Mayor Bloomberg's Contingency Plan for the city, which makes use of ferry service and carpooling (Go to www.nyc.gov for Mayor Bloomberg's plans).

--More details on NYBOT's shuttle service are available on a special Transit Strike section on NYBOT's website (www.nybot.com). Updates will be posted as they occur.

--For those NYBOT members and staff who choose to drive, the exchange encourages them to make carpool arrangements with fellow members and staff.

--As the possible strike approaches, NYBOT members and staff are encouraged to monitor the situation over the weekend and to follow the above-mentioned plans should a strike occur.
