NYBOT Achieves Record Exchange-Wide Volume Of Nearly 400,000 Contracts - Sets New High In Electronic NYBOT Soft Commodity Volume

IntercontinentalExchange (NYSE: ICE), the leading electronic energy marketplace and soft commodity exchange, announced that its New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) subsidiary established a new exchange-wide daily volume record on Tuesday of nearly 400,000 contracts. NYBOT also set a new electronic trading record in its soft commodity futures yesterday.

On Tuesday, June 5, NYBOT established an all-time daily volume record with 396,909 contracts traded. The previous high, established on February 12, was 382,188 contracts. Also yesterday, NYBOT established a new electronically traded volume record of 219,875 contracts in the soft commodity futures markets, surpassing the previous record on May 25 of 193,695 contracts by 13%.

In addition, a new daily record in NYBOT Sugar No. 11(SM) of 171,214 electronically traded futures contracts was established, surpassing the prior record of 164,708 contracts traded on May 25. Electronically traded NYBOT Cotton No. 2(SM) futures also set a new high, with 22,410 contracts traded.

On Tuesday, 75% of NYBOT's soft commodity futures contracts were traded electronically on the ICE platform, compared to approximately 71% in May. ICE successfully introduced side-by-side trading for NYBOT's soft commodity contracts in February, including futures based on cocoa, coffee, cotton, orange juice and sugar. NYBOT will introduce electronic trading for the U.S. Dollar Index(R) (USDX) and the Russell 1000(R) full- and mini-sized indexes on June 15.
