NSX Posts Three Consecutive Record Days

Trades on the National Stock Exchange (NSX) reached an all-time high of 1,443,997 yesterday, March 11, 2004, setting a new daily trade record for the third consecutive day this week. The previous daily trade record of 1,340,748 was set Wednesday, March 10, surpassing the single-day record of 1,269,927 trades that was set on Tuesday, March 9.

In addition, NSX experienced back-to-back record days in share volume this week. A new record of 647,275,326 shares was set yesterday, March 11, 2004, topping the previous record of 636,038,911 shares set March 10, 2004.

The National Stock Exchange, the nation’s first all-electronic stock exchange, is the low-cost provider of exchange services. Having replaced its physical trading floor with a completely automated market in 1980, NSX has been a model of exchange efficiency and a driving force for change in the world of securities exchanges. Founded in 1885, NSX is a recognized alternative to the primary markets and the third largest stock market in the United States. The Exchange officially changed its name to the National Stock Exchange from the Cincinnati Stock Exchange on November 7, 2003.
