Commentary

In November the Warsaw Stock Exchange launched its new programme - WSE IPO Partner. The WSE IPO Partner programme has been designed to foster promotional activities on foreign markets via the WSE partners – foreign brokerage houses. Based on the agreement such companies will undertake actions aimed at attracting foreign issuers to listing on the WSE. The agreement allows the WSE Partner to use a special logo of the authorized WSE IPO partner.

In November the Exchange signed two such agreements with Ukrainian companies: E-volution brokerage house and Altera Finance.

Among the four companies which debuted on the Exchange in November the largest was Multimedia Polska, the offering of which was the largest private (non-privatisation) offer in the WSE history. The largest profits investors reaped however from the listing of HTL-Strefa. On the opening on its debut the price was 108% up from the offering price.

In November WSE indices set their new all time highs. Most often this was done by the mid and small cap indices, the MIDWIG and WIRR respectively.

In November the Exchange made the decision concerning inclusion of shares of the largest WSE-listed company – the Czech energy provider CEZ in the WIG20 index. The company will be in this blue-chip index starting from the trading session on December 18, 2006. CEZ will be the second foreign company whose shares are included in the WIG20 (i.e. next to MOL).
