November Is A Record-Breaking Month At The KCBT

The month of November brought a spate of new volume records to the Kansas City Board of Trade. Overall exchange volume for the month set a new record at 246,433 contracts, blasting the previous November record of 194,043 contracts set in 1998 by nearly 27 percent. Total exchange volume was up 50 percent compared to last month. Leading the way to healthy increases was a new single-day wheat futures volume record that was set on the 29th of November as 24,424 contracts or 122.120 million bushels were traded. The previous record of 22,637 contracts or 113.185 million bushels was set on August 2 of this year. On the 18th of November, the KCBT set a new annual trading volume record. As of the close of the November 30 session 2,406,271 contracts had traded in 1999. The previous annual record of 2,296,573 contracts was set in 1997.
