Non-Jordanian Investments At The Amman Stock Exchange During 2007

The total value of shares that were bought by Non-Jordanian investors since during 2007 was JD2825.3 million, representing 22.9% of the overall trading value, while the value of shares sold by them amounted to JD2359.0 million. As a result, the net of non-Jordanian investment during the year 2007 showed an increase by JD466.3 million, compared to an increase by JD180.6 million in the year 2006.

Arab investors purchases during 2007 was JD2419.5 million, or 85.6% of the overall purchases by non-Jordanians, while the value of non-Arab purchases amounted to JD405.8 million, constituting 14.4%. Arab investors sales amounted to JD1997.2 million, 84.7% of non-Jordanians total sales, while the value of non-Arab sales amounted to JD361.8 million, representing 15.3% of the total sales by non-Jordanians.

The total value of shares bought by non-Jordanian investors during Decmber 2007 was JD144.5 million, representing 15.6% of the overall trading volume, while the value of shares sold by them amounted to JD147.2 million. Thus, the net of non-Jordanian investment during December 2007 showed a decrease by JD2.7 million.

Non-Jordanian ownership in companies listed at the ASE by end of 2007 represented 48.9% of the total market value, 35.7% for Arab investors and 13.2% for non-Arab investors. At the sector level, the non-Jordanian ownership in the financial sector was 50.7%, in the services sector was 36.2%, and in the industrial sector was 51.9%.
