Nexi is among the Payment Service Providers that will participate in the Digital Euro pilot phase, scheduled to begin in the second half of 2027 and run for 12 months.
The European PayTech will contribute to testing the technical functionalities and operational processes of the payment system, while helping to improve the user experience thanks to its specialized know-how and extensive experience in the payments sector.

In 2022, Nexi was selected among the five companies tasked with providing front-end prototypes to test different payment use cases, while in 2024, as a partner of Giesecke & Devrient, the PayTech was chosen to support the ECB in making offline Digital Euro payments available to users and merchants across Europe.
