News Letter From Taifex October 2005

(1) Trading results and market updates as of September 30,2005.

Through the supervision of the competent authority and the efforts of the futures industry and the Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX), the Taiwan futures market achieved a cumulative volume of trade of 64,760,883 lots (including futures and options products) for the period from January through September of 2005, a figure already surpassing the total trading volume of 59,146,376 lots for the whole of 2004 on the entire futures market. Futures products accounted for 7,551,692 lots and options for 57,209,191, while trade in TAIEX index options totaled 55,403,872 lots, or 86% of overall market trading volume.
