New Zealand Stock Exchange: Top New Zealand Companies Draw Australian Media Attention

Date 25/11/2002

New Zealand's top business leaders are set to meet tomorrow to brief the Australian business media on the performance of New Zealand companies, and why Australians should take another look at investing here.

At a meeting hosted by the NZSE, nine CEO's from New Zealand's largest companies will tell the New Zealand investor story. Companies participating include Telecom, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, The Warehouse, Carter Holt Harvey, Sky City Entertainment Group, Infratil, Fletcher Building, Fisher & Paykel Appliances and NZSE.

The event has attracted the attention of a wide group of media from Australia, including Sky News, The Australian, and the Australian Financial Review.

Commenting on the event, Mark Weldon CEO of the NZSE said "This is an exciting event for New Zealand business. The companies who are participating have very strong performance and excellent fundamentals. They demonstrate to offshore investors why New Zealand is a good bet right now, particularly with the volatile nature of global equities markets.

"Given the extensive and successful operations of our companies in Australia, it makes for a great diversification story for Australian investors. By attending this event, the media will hear first hand the strategies that drive some of New Zealand's most successful organisations. "This is the start of a long term programme of activities designed by the NZSE to raise the profile of our companies, on the world stage."

The event is being held at Sky City Hotel from 9am on Tuesday 26 November.
