Mr Carter expressed concerns that information concerning an alleged deal involving Air New Zealand Limited (NS) (AIR) and Qantas was not being "evenly divulged" to the New Zealand and Australian markets.
The NZSE has investigated these concerns, discussed them with the ASX, worked closely with AIR, and reviewed all recent disclosures made to the ASX regarding AIR.
On the basis of these investigations, the NZSE's findings are:
- The factual information disclosed by AIR in both markets is identical;
- AIR has fully discharged its obligations to keep both markets equally informed;
- AIR has fully discharged its obligation to release information simultaneously to both exchanges; and
- AIR has made clear and unambiguous statements regarding current speculation. AIR has responded to Mr Carter's comments in a separate announcement released earlier today.
