Prime Minister John Key today announced Mark Weldon will spearhead the fundraising efforts of the Government’s Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.
The Board and staff of NZX are fully supportive of CEO Mark Weldon’s decision to devote himself for four to six weeks to leading the Government’s Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.
Mark will dedicate himself full time during this period to working with the government to leverage local and global networks, and help build a pool of capital resource to help Christchurch recover and rebuild as a community.
“NZX is a Values-driven organisation and one of our core Values is New Zealand. The Board and staff are unanimous that this is the right thing to do.
“From an NZX perspective, the bench strength in the management team is the best NZX has ever had and the company is operating extremely well. I have complete confidence that they will run the business with acuity, and deliver strong results, during my absence. They know what needs to be done and they are committed to doing it.
I will shortly be calling on other private sector business leaders and philanthropists, in New Zealand and around the world, to contribute to Christchurch’s recovery effort,” said Mark Weldon.
