New York Stock Exchange To Suspend The American Depositary Receipts Of WMC Resources Limited

Date 23/06/2005

The New York Stock Exchange announced today that trading in the American Depositary Receipts of WMC Resources Ltd. -- ticker symbol WMC -- will be suspended before the opening of business on Friday, June 24, 2005. Following suspension, application will be made to the Securities and Exchange Commission to delist the issue.

The NYSE said it is suspending the above described security of WMC Resources following the successful takeover bid by BHP Billiton -- ticker symbol BHP. On June 17, 2005, the expiration date of its offer for WMC Resources issued shares, BHP Billiton stated in a press release that it had a relevant interest in 90.59% of WMC Resources issued shares, and that it was proceeding to compulsorily acquire all of the outstanding shares in WMC. On June 20, 2005, the Australian Stock Exchange announced that trading in WMC Resources will be suspended from quotation at the close of business on Friday, June 24, 2005.

The NYSE noted that it may, at any time, suspend a security if it believes that further dealings or listing of the security on the Exchange would be inadvisable or unwarranted.
