Based on information received from members and member organizations, short interest decreased to 8,072,744,111 shares on Feb. 15 from 8,495,417,446 shares on Jan. 13.
The short interest on Jan. 13 was equal to 2.2 percent of the total shares outstanding on the Exchange.
The short interest in warrants as of Feb. 15 amounted to 486,966 warrants, compared with 64,709 the previous month.
As of the settlement date, there were 3,643 stocks and 7 warrants available for trading on the Exchange. Of these, 3,032 issues had either a short position of at least 5,000 shares or a change of shares since the last monthly report. A list of these issues, showing their current short positions and average daily volume between the trade dates, covered by this report, is attached.
