New York Stock Exchange Announces Second-Quarter 2000 Financial Results

The New York Stock Exchange reported revenues of $394.9 million and net income of $47.3 million in the first six months of 2000, as compared with $370.9 million and $58.4 million in the same period a year ago.

For second-quarter 2000, revenues totaled $205.9 million and net income was $24.4 million, compared with $193.7 million and $30.5 million, respectively, in second-quarter 1999.

Average daily trading volume for the first six months of 2000 was 1.03 billion shares worth $45.4 billion, compared with 801.5 million shares worth $36.7 billion in the comparable period of 2000. In the first half of 2000, 48 companies joined the list of NYSE-listed stocks, compared with 73 in the year-ago period.
